The Kindergarten classes did such an amazing job at the Morning at the Museum performance today! We have really enjoyed the different units of study this year together, but learning about Presidents and American Symbols was a class favorite!

As I am heading abroad to teach tomorrow, this will be my last newsletter a little early. It is so difficult to miss these last few days together and I am sad to say goodbye to this class. We have had a great time together this year and accomplished some pretty amazing things. Today was a wonderful day. The students threw me a little going away party and we had lots of laughs and a fun hike in the woods. Thank you all!
I hope you will continue to be a strong partner in your child's first grade year and continue to let them lead the conversations at home about all the different things they are learning about. I hope that you will continue to hold them to high expectations and still snuggle up and read to them each day! Don't forget to participate in the summer reading program at the local library. Preventing that summer slide of all we have learned this year is very important. Continue to have your child read at home. Also, adding and subtracting skills need continued practice.
Congratulations to Leeland on finishing his Candy Words!

I really like the books that Walmart or Meijer sells to use as "homework". They have a little of every subject in one book and you can get one specifically designed for First Grade. Here is a link for one of my favorites you can order or get at our local Walmart quite inexpensively.
Students will be bringing home their report cards, and their memory book on the last day of school. Our last day is June 13th with dismissal at 12:10. Half day for students and they will eat lunch fist.
MONDAY!!!June 10th is our Center Lake Field trip. Mr. Anderson and 4 other parents will go with us. They will get their tie died shirts that we made at school when they arrive that morning and will wear them home that day! Watch the weather to see how to dress your student for the day! It is always colder by the lake. Also, don't forget to have them wear their bathing suit and apply sunscreen before they leave.
Don't forget:
June 10th- FV Center Lake Field Trip
June 13th- LAST OFFICIAL DAY OF SCHOOL! HALF DAY! 12: 10 dismissal
June 16th- Father's Day
Thank you for sharing your child with me! I feel so privileged and honored! This will be my last blog. If you have any questions, e-mail is the best way to get a hold of me but I won't be back in the country until the 20th!
