ABOUT MRS. OUWINGA
Hello, Kindergarten Families!

My name is Mrs. Ouwinga and I am going to be your Kindergarten teacher
this year at Forest View Elementary. My name is pronounced like you have an “owie”. Lots of students call me Mrs. O.
I have 4 children. Tessa is 9, Jack and Ellie are twins and they are 5 years old (and in my class this year) and Mabel is almost 4 years old. I also have a husband Mr. Ouwinga who is a Math Instructional Coach at Mackinaw Trail Middle School and the Junior High School.

I love teaching! My favorite thing about school is teaching kids to read! I
love to watch them learn and become great readers. When I am not
teaching, I really like to camp with my family. I also enjoy gardening and
picking fruit and vegetables. In the summer I really enjoy flea markets, garage sales and refurbishing furniture.
After the kids go to bed, you will find me sitting on the porch reading a good book. This summer we spent most of the time living in the Upper Peninsula where I grew up! Lots of fun Adventures.
Please join us for our OPEN HOUSE to meet me in person and see the classroom (our home away from home) on Wednesday August 29th, 5:30-7:00.This is informal, and a great way to see the school and classroom. I look forward to seeing you at Orientation on Tuesday Sept. 4th at your time slot. The rest of the students are in school, but this is a day we can get ready for the first day of school and fill out important paper work.
I hope you are enjoying your summer so far, and make the most out of the remainder of it! I will see you soon.
Feel free to E-mail me if you have any questions before the start of school! The first day of school is Sept. 4th starting at 8:40!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Ouwinga
