Let the Countdown Begin

WOW! What a great week! We had our end of the year DIBELS test. This is an indicator of early reading skills and deficits. I am pleased at how well everyone did! We have had so much growth this year! What great readers and mathematicians we have! Ready for first grade! We also started a balloon countdown. Each day we pop a balloon and see what special thing we can do for that day! Let's end this year with a "Bang!"

A look at this week!

Literacy & Social Studies: This week we continued with our study of American Presidents. We learned about the importance of Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Barack Obama, and Abraham Lincoln. We also studied about Mount Rushmore and some of the other American Symbols we will continue with next week.

June 6th- Morning at the Museum 9:15am-10:15am am. Come enjoy our clay projects of American Symbols and hear our Presidents of the United States Song! Also enjoy the first grade and their animal habitat walking museums!

Math: We are working on the beginning of telling time. We talked about the days of the week and yesterday, today, tomorrow. Next week we will get more into clocks and telling time. We continue to practice addition and subtraction.

Phonics: This week we started learning about long vowels and the magic "e" The vowel a_e works together to say the "a" sound like in the words game, same, plane, etc.

Congratulations to these friends on finishing all their candy words!

Mrs. O is going to London!

I sent a note home on Thursday, but in case you missed it- I was given a great opportunity to teach globally in London, England. I will be spending time in a Kindergarten classroom and partner teaching there for 10 days. This is an amazing opportunity to grow professionally and I am very excited to see what a Kindergarten classroom is like in another country. (Kindergarten is known as Reception there) I will be gone June 7th-13th and Mr. Anderson will be taking over the classroom while I am gone. I am sad to miss the end of the year...it was such a fantastic year, but am looking forward to this opportunity! Mrs. Paulen and I are planning a time to video chat back with the class and I am hoping to build a relationship with the teacher for further class opportunities.

If you have any questions regarding the end of this year or the beginning of first grade, please let me know! I am finishing up report cards and final end of the year plans.

Thursday will be my last day.

End of the Year T-shirts

I like to make shirts with our class to have everyone autograph. We wear these shirts to Center Lake. It helps the adults see the kids in our class easily. To make these shirts, I am asking for $2 for me to buy a shirt for your student or you can send in a white t-shirt for them.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Tiffany
