March is Reading Month:
Next week, Forest View will have a Wacky Week of Fun for Reading Month. See the attached schedule that came home this week.
Book Bags were sent home to those who expressed an interest. Remember to keep the books in a safe spot to return back to school. Please send back when you are ready for new books. We can keep that one in there if you have one.
Here is a look at our week in review:
Phonics:
Continued practice with vowel teams /th/, /sh/, /ch/, /ng/, and the sight word "out".
You may have heard about our Royal Wedding we had on Wednesday. The letters in the alphabet joined to together as Q and U got married. Together they make the /kw/ sound.
Math:
Thank you to those who cut out toppings for our pizza math. Pictures to come! We started addition this week. Working on putting groups together and combining them. Kindergarten students should feel really comfortable with partners to 5. If you say 4, they should understand that 1 is the missing partner to make 5.
Literacy:
This week we wrapped up our unit on Seasons and Weather patterns. Students listened to a fable about the Ant and the Grasshopper. Mrs. VanderVelde from GSRP let us borrow her ant farm to watch the ants during the day. That was really cool!
You may have also heard about the Leprechauns. One in particular- Lucky. He has visited our room this week and students made it their mission to write notes and finish traps to try to catch him this weekend! What a mess he left in our room when we were at PE! Even the toilet was green! Today when we left, there were a lot of traps set. The kids are really inventive and trying to catch them! We will see!
Congratulations to our STAR student of the week this week- Hayden! He is such a wealth of knowledge and always working hard to do his best!
