This week in Review
Literacy:
Our unit introduces students to several farm animals as well as to crops that people grow on farms. Students will also learn about how farmers raise and care for animals. Since learning about plants, students will make the connection that animals need food, water and space to live and grow just like plants do. Our housekeeping center has turned into a farm and students enjoy taking care of the animals and acting out what we are learning.
We also enjoyed the classic tale of Little Red Hen. We used the knowledge about hens that we learned and had fun sequencing the tall tale. We also all helped to make the bread- in the bread maker since we don't have an oven. It smelled delicious all day and the students really enjoyed it!
Math: We dug into teen numbers this week. focusing on the a "ten frame" and understanding that the number 11 is 10 and one more. The number 12 is 10 and 2 more.
We are working on includes partners to 10. 9+1=10, 8+2=10. Students should get familiar with partners to 5 and 10 for math success! We will continue to work on this all year. This is a great visual for families, make a poster at home and hang it up!
Our students were thrilled to learn at our Wednesday meeting with Mrs. Paulen that our school will be getting new playground equipment! Santa came and gave us the great news. Click on the picture for the 9&10 News Link.
Thank you for all your extra love to our class. I acknowledge how long the days are, having 2 Kindergarteners myself. The kids give it their all during the day and loose it at home often. Thank you for continuing to put them to bed on time, for giving them some extra cuddle time, thank you for talking about what we are learning, for continuing to have conversations about how to handle different friend situations, for modeling kindness, and for donating time, money, and items to our class. It doesn't go un-noticed by me and our staff. YOU do so much!!! Thank you!
Have a great weekend!

Tie Shoes- Shoe tying is a very important skill for a child to learn as they get their first pair of tie shoes. I am asking that if your child wears tie shoes at school that you make it a priority to help them tie their shoes. Not only is it so helpful to me with 17 students, but also, but a life long skill.
