Firefighters and Conferences
I just wanted to thank everyone for coming to conferences and being such important educational partners. I feel very lucky to have such a great class and to have wonderful parents to follow through at home with things we are working on in school. Please continue to e-mail me with any questions or concerns. Let's keep working on those goals!
Fire Prevention Week!
We had kind of a mixed up week, this week, with two early dismissals, and the firefighters visit for October Fire Safety. The students did great though, and we were still able to get lots of our learning done. Thank you to the Cherry Grove Fire Department for a great presentation.

Literacy and Science:
This week we wrapped up our unit on the 5 senses with a pumpkin investigation. We also learned about Helen Keller and Ray Charles. Two very famous people who worked hard, persevered and were very successful with a missing sense. I also wanted to share with your our Science station. This summer I received a Donors Choose Grant and many wonderful families supported our classroom. I was able to buy some really neat science materials that helped with our exploration as we were learning about the five senses.
Math:
We continue to work on numbers to 5 and are starting to understand numbers to 10. How to write the numbers, how to count them, what each number is made of (3 and 3 make 6), and recognize the numbers. We also continue to focus on counting at the beginning of each lesson. Your child should be able to count to 20 without help. Our end of the year gaol is 100.
Social Studies:
Our focus has been on rules and laws. We talk about the differences and how they affect our lives. Students are also understanding the word authority and why respect for authority is important.
Monday is Late Start with classes starting at 10:05. We wish Reece good luck in Texas and he will be missed!
Enjoy your weekend!

We will be ending with a apple bar. There won't be the traditional costumes, parade and party, but we are hopeful this will add less stress and provide some fun memories for the students! Each grade level is looking to provide some snacks.
Kindergarten is looking for donations of the individual Carmel dippers.
