Persevere!

Our first three days are done! I am excited about this class and am enjoying getting to know your little ones better. This is a place I will share different things happening in our class. We had many fun new things to learn this week and this blog is where I will be sharing our fun. I am sending a paper copy home this week, but in the future, I will not send a paper copy each week- going green!

Anyone can subscribe, grandparents, aunts, uncles- just share the link with them and they can add their e-mail!

Thank you to all of you for attending our orientation. Thank you for returing ALL the notes back to school! Thank you for having your child rested and to school on time this week! (I know they were tired!) Thank you for your questions and for encouraging me! THANK YOU!

Here are a few things from this week:

Persevere- Never give up! This was the most important lesson we learned this week, starting with our first day of school! Here is a short video to show you most of the mini-lesson. It seemed to cut out at the end when the students were learning the definition of the word....but I think you will get where I was going with the lesson :) (sorry for the quality)

You will hear your students use this word and hopefully they will put it into practice. Along with our story this week The Little Engine that Could, the kindergartners are learning that sometimes things take A LOT of focus, practice, and extra attention. We might want to just give up, but if we persevere, there will be a reward at the end. Not necessarily a tangible one, but a teacher might notice our hard work, or the work that we do might turn out to be our best, or we will feel that feeling of accomplishment and learn to love that feeling.

This is something you can use at home too. When they can't tie their shoes, or pull their jacket sleeves right side out, or don't want to sit and finish their dinner...remind them of the word Persevere.

It is my hope to use perseverance to remind us to keep trying and do our best. Then, hopefully the students will use it in their own lives.

An easy lesson to learn early on!

Here are some more pictures from our first week: (Each kindergarten class wore shirts of a specific color) This helped the teachers and staff get them to the right spot.

We also learned many rules of the school and the classroom. There are so many routines to learn to help our classroom run smoothly. Next week we will continue to work hard on being a Forest View Star with positive behavior! STAR students are Safe, Trustworthy, Accountable, and Respectful. We also had a fun lesson today involving cooking. Here is an outline of what we talked about as we made Friendship Salad. Ask your child how they felt about the rotten banana

.

Our daily schedule is in our Folder, but just a reminder that we have gym Tuesday and Fridays, so please wear tennis shoes!

Thank you for sending some snacks to keep in the cabinet. Remember we are peanut free!

We currently have 19 students in our class.

I hope you have a great weekend! Next week we will be off and running with a full week ahead of us! If you have any questions, please let me know!

Tiffany
